Taro joined BRW in 2021 with an impressive professional background that combines nonprofit work and architectural training. His work engages political, economic, and social systems in service of making beautiful, exceptional housing for all.
Taro’s has experience ranging from research initiatives, to international design competitions, to professional practice in practices based in San Francisco, New York City, and Charlottesville. He brings principles of equitable and inclusive planning from his work in local government, affordable housing advocacy, and community organizing in Boston and Pittsburgh.
Taro is a licensed Architect and Project Manager at BRW. He is interested in the process of design from policy and planning all the way through design and construction. Taro received his Master of Architecture degree from the University of Virginia with a certificate in Real Estate Design and Development. He also holds a B.S. and A.B. from the University of Chicago.
Taro lives in Crozet, Virginia in an old farm house with his wife, Suzannah, their daughters, Rosemary and Wilhelmina, and their two dogs Merle and Patience. He currently serves on the Albemarle County Architectural Review Board.
