Brwarchitects is celebrating two accomplished individuals this November as they were recognized by the Central Virginia Chapter of the Virginia Society AIA.
BRW Principal Kurt Keesecker, AIA, was recognized by the Honors Committee as a Chapter Honors Recipient. In their words, Kurt’s contributions to the build environment and his dedication to civic engagement throughout his career embody the essence of a citizen architect. He has placed community engagement at the center of his projects, and has also served the larger community in leadership positions with AHIP and on the Planning Commission.
BRW Architect Whitney McDermott, AIA, was recognized with the Young Activist in Architecture Award, which honors individuals who have demonstrated exceptional leadership and made significant contributions early in their careers. Her work with the City Schoolyard Gardens and the resident-led redevelopment at Southwood Mobile Home Park are “truly inspirational.”
